Resolved Question: How can I keep tarantulas out of and away from my home?
I recently moved to Amarillo, TX and a pal has told me that occasionally tarantulas migrate through the area. I know they are pretty much harmless, but I'm terrified of them. I live right in the city and haven't seen any signs of them so my fear is probably irrational, but is there anything I can do to insure they stay out of my yard and home (repellents,etc)?

Voting Question: Why are ALL amber alerts made not made?
statewide? Last night we had one in my city for 3 kids who are missing and 2 were found in oklahoma, and the spanish girl is still missing. Lubbock Police have issued an alert for three kids. LaShawnda Annice Theriac, a black female, age 14; Jasmine Nichole Bazan, a Hispanic female, age 11; and Angel Contreras, a Hispanic Male, age 8. The two youngest are siblings, but every three reside in the same apartment. Lubbock Police say a man who lives at the same apartment complex as the three, was supposed to be taking them to Six Flags over Texas in Arlington along with his son over the weekend. They believe the man left his son in Amarillo and then headed east, spending some time in Arlington. Police believe the man was headed to East Texas or Shreveport, Louisiana, with the kids The Ponderosa Apartments on East 29th road in Lubbock are the last place where family members saw Theriac, Bazan, and Contreras. That was on Friday, before they left on a trip to Arlington to go to Six Flags with the suspect, Kenneth Michael Wilcox. Lubbock Police suspect the kids are in danger. They couldn't comment further, but family members say the suspect's ex-wife told them he can't be trusted with kids. "His ex-wife told us that he's not supposed to be around little girls," Bazan's and Contreras' Aunt Kristal Ortiz said. She tells NewsChannel 11 they never suspected Wilcox to be anything, but a family pal until Sunday evening. Authorities say they've known Wilcox for the past five months, so when he planned a trip to Six Flags with Therica, Bazan, and her brother Contreras, the families let them go. "My sister said he called up there and made the reservations for that right in front of her," Bazan's and Contrera's Uncle Mario Ortiz said. The kids left with Wilcox Friday afternoon. Police say Wilcox's son was also with them at the time. The crew was supposed to return around 5 p.m. Sunday. More than 24-hours later, still no sign. "They've called the cell phone. He has it disconnected," Kristal Ortiz said. Now, police say Wilcox dropped off his son with his ex-wife in Amarillo. "Based upon the information that the detectives have received, up to this point, they do believe that the kids are in some degree of danger," Lubbock Police Capt. Greg Stevens said. "If you every are hearing this, just call collect, let us know what's going on, just call home. They know the number, that's how we know something is wrong, because they're not calling," Kristal Ortiz said. The person of interest in this case, Kenneth Michael Wilcox, is a white male, 5'5" tall and 150 pounds. He has blue eyes and blonde hair with a gray stripe. He is believed to be possibly driving a 2004 Blue Ford Focus with California tags, 5GTX 090. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please call Lubbock Police at (806) 775-2865. UPDATE: they caught the guy just now in ok. and they found every 3 kids. The issue is that kids are missing, and the guy is traveling across the state, thats the issue!

Resolved Question: Found Lizard in Old Bomb Shelter?
I live in amarillo texas and we just bought a home.... well in the back yard is an old bomb shelter from the 50s-60s.. We finally climbed down there tonight and in the back were three big lizards. They are grayish green and have stubby little legs. One of them is the width of my husbands for arm... anyone know what nice of lizards these are?? The lizards were in water so it's difficult to say what every the specks are. From just the sight one 6 inch head to tip and not very wide, the other was about a foot to a foot and a half and was very plump. The light reflected off of the skin and they had scales. The noses were a slight point, and the belly in unknown. If I had to guess i would say white given the back is greyish green and a solid color. I have seen many skinks here, but none are a solid color. I'm wondering if they are skinks and have been down there so long that they lost their colors. I would give you a pic if I could, but I just don't have it to give.... I plan on catching them tomorrow and taking them in to find out what they are. I am unsure if they are actually native to this region. I am curious, I just don't want to receive eaten. I figured I would research first and then catch them... but I may have to post the answer on the question... LOL My husband is a dork.. The lizards weren't as big as he said they were and they are 5-lined skinks... Not the nicest lizards around either!!!! Thanks for your help

How would you go about getting Congress to change certain perks that they may like but we as citizens do not? For example... 1. I do not think that they should be able to serve more than 2 terms. 2. They should NOT be allowed to vote for their possess raises. 3. The government should cease paying for their high-dollar insurance premiums. If they had to find and pay for their possess insurance then maybe they would try harder to make it more affordable for everyone else. 4. They should not have their full salary at retirement. I may be lucky to receive 40% of my salary after working for 40 years when I retire if I plan and keep...why should they receive the full amount? They receive paid a crazy amount of money for what most people would consider a part time job. 5. Congressmen and lady should pay into the social security system. They make laws for it. If they spent some of their possess money they might try harder to make it solvent. An elderly Amarillo lady asked this in the paper and thought it would be really interesting to look what comments I would receive. I also need to know how in the world we can go about changing this stuff or can you?

I just caught a Texas Tiger Salamander in Amarillo Texas..... Which is odd I thouht their season was in the spring and summer. The Salamander is very beautiful and healthy, I figure it would be the perfect starter "lizard" for my daughter, I had one when I was in school too. Anyway, I need to know the absolute best habitat and diet... Resolved Question: Have you ever seen a UFO, I have?
Year's ago not only I but my whole family bbqing, in backyard of my in-laws home saw multiple UFO's, in Amarillo Tx.. The next day it was on the news that 100's of people called in, saying they seen the same sightings we did . HAVE YOU EVER S EEN UFO's? What was it like?
